Gueydan

Gueydan is located in the rural heartland of South Louisiana’s Cajun Prairie. Well-known for its waterfowl hunting, it earned the nickname “Duck Capital of America” and hosts the annual Gueydan Duck Festival. 

 

Things to Do

Book a duck-hunting trip with one of the area guides or clubs. For bird watching, head to the nature trail at the White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area. Housed in a historical building, the Gueydan Museum showcases rare photographs and artifacts of the area.

Hunters should seek out camps like Doug’s Hunting Lodge or Pirogue Hunting & Fishing Lodge. For more amenities nearby, try The Bank Hotel in Lake Arthur or Crawfish Haven/Mrs. Rose’s Bed and Breakfast near Kaplan.

Getting There

If you’re flying into town, Lake Charles Regional Airport and Lafayette Regional Airport are each about an hour away. From either, rent a car and drive to Gueydan.
