Gueydan is located in the rural heartland of South Louisiana’s Cajun Prairie. Well-known for its waterfowl, it earned the nickname “Duck Capital of America” and hosts the annual Gueydan Duck Festival. 

Things to Do

Housed in a historical building, the Gueydan Museum showcases photographs and artifacts of the area, including the world's largest working duck call. 

Places to Stay

Try Crawfish Haven/Mrs. Rose’s Bed and Breakfast, a B&B that offers crawfishing excursions, or L'Banca Albergo (The Bank Hotel) in nearby Lake Arthur.

Where to Eat

Specials at Johnny's Drive-In include fried pork chops, chicken-fried steak and jambalaya. 

Getting There

If you’re flying into town, Lake Charles Regional Airport and Lafayette Regional Airport are each about an hour away. From either, rent a car and drive to Gueydan.
