The Beyond

Italian filmmaker Lucio Fulci, known as the “Godfather of Gore,” filmed the horror cult classic The Beyond in Louisiana in 1981. The film tells the story of a young woman who inherits an old hotel. Renovations trigger a series of bizarre and terrifying events revealing that the building was built over one of the entrances to Hell. The Otis House located in the Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville served as the Seven Doors Hotel. Due to its graphic violence, the film had to be re-edited several times before being released in the UK and the US.  The film was never seen in America in its uncut form until 1998.

Notice: Otis House is temporarily closed. Please check with Louisiana State Parks for updates.
