The Beyond
Italian filmmaker Lucio Fulci, known as the Godfather of Gore, filmed the horror cult classic "The Beyond" in Louisiana in 1981. The film tells the story of a young woman who inherits an old hotel. Renovations trigger a series of bizarre and terrifying events revealing that the building was built over one of the entrances to hell.
The Otis House, located in Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville, served as the Seven Doors Hotel. Due to its graphic violence, the film had to be re-edited several times before being released in the UK and U.S. The film was never seen in America in its uncut form until 1998.
