Hackberry

Hackberry is a small community of about 2,000 residents in Cameron Parish. This is an area dominated by lakes, streams, bayous and chênièrs â€” a term used to describe oak tree-covered ridges. While it's just a few miles from southwest Louisiana's largest metro area, Lake Charles, the village and its surrounding landscape feel a world away from the bustle of city life.

Hackberry offers notable attractions for visitors looking to explore the southwest Louisiana wilderness. The Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, which runs through Hackberry, is an interconnected network of highways that take travelers through swamplands, beaches and prairies, all within a three-hour drive (though staying longer is highly recommended!). On the trail you'll find abundant wildlife, particularly migratory birds that are headed, depending on the time of year you visit, northward for warmer climes or south for the winter.

Numerous fishing outfitters call Hackberry home. Whether you're looking to reel in big catches on Lake Calcasieu, Sabine Lake or any of the many waterways of this part of the parish, local expert guides will make sure you drop anchor where the fish are biting.
