Breweries in Baton Rouge

A great place to start is the capital city of Baton Rouge, home to favorites like Cypress Coast Brewing Co. and Le Chien Brewing, the latter of which is dog-friendly. Sports bar meets brewpub at Rally Cap Brewing. Grab a front-row seat to cheer on Louisiana teams in front of their 10 big-screen televisions and 16 beer taps.

Breweries in New Orleans

In the heart of New Orleans is NOLA (New Orleans Lager and Ale) Brewing Company.  NOLA’s beers are truly inspired by the city from which they come, with names like Hopitoulas, Irish Channel Stout and Smoky Mary. Just a block away is the taproom for Miel Brewery, an independent, small-batch microbrewery whose Flor De Jamaica sour beer won a gold medal during the 2025 Great American Beer Festival. 

When in the Lower Garden District, stop into Urban South Brewery for an award-winning pint in a renovated warehouse with arcade games and pinball machines. Head to the other end of the neighborhood to The Courtyard Brewery, a family-owned nanobrewery known for its highly specialized beers. Swing through Second Line Brewing on your way to City Park or through Skeeta Hawk Brewing if you’re venturing along the Lafitte Greenway.

Breweries Near Lake Pontchartrain

Across Lake Pontchartrain in Abita Springs is Louisiana’s most established brewery, Abita Brewing. Abita's brewery is open for tours four days a week and is a popular destination for both visitors and locals to sample craft beer. As one of the top 14 largest craft brewers in the country, you’ll find flagship brews such as Purple Haze, Turbodog and Andygator, as well as seasonal and specialty brews like Creamsicle IPA and Mardi Gras Bock.

Mandeville husband-and-wife Josh and Jamie Erickson have a passion for good beer. They opened Chafunkta Brewing Company on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain, where they are creating quality small-batch brews.

Breweries Near Lafayette

In Broussard, Parish Brewing Company concocts a beer made with Louisiana’s own Steen’s sugarcane syrup. This nano-brewery right outside of Lafayette prides itself on creating “uncompromised, independent, craft biére.” Like their counterparts in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Parish opens its doors to the public for tours on Friday afternoons.

Not too far away on Highway 31 in the small town of Arnaudville is Bayou Teche Brewing. Founded by three brothers, Bayou Teche offers a glimpse into Cajun culture on the Bayou Teche and serves finely crafted beers that have won several national awards.

Breweries in Lake Charles 

Lake Charles is yet another destination in Louisiana for beer aficionados. The locally loved Crying Eagle Brewing has two locations in Lake Charles. The original, now referred to as the university location, opened just outside of McNeese State University with an expansive beer garden and a live music stage. Its lakefront location is a massive space with indoor and outdoor dining, three full-service bars and views of Lake Charles. 

Rikenjaks Brewing Company is another top Lake Charles beer spot. Aside from its large selection of Louisiana Craft Beers, Rikenjaks is a full-service restaurant cooking up elevated pub food with a bayou twist, like boudin balls, seafood po’boy, and the Acadian burger. Sitting out on the outdoor patio with live music and good company is the perfect way to spend an evening.
