The War Memorial Civic Center was built in 1941, and it was the First Off -Base USO in America. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 25, 1992.

The War Memorial Civic Center (WMCC) is home to the War Room Museum which houses some WWII artifacts mostly donated by Mrs. Velmer Smith. The Louisiana State Department of Veteran Affairs Office is located in the WMCC. Rooms are also available for rental for your event needs. The room capacities range from 50 to 200 people.
