Briarwood: Caroline Dorman Nature Preserve

Located in northeast Natchitoches Parish in the Kisatchie National Forest. This area was named after Caroline Dormon, the first woman employed in forestry in the U. S. and leader in the designation of Kisatchie as a National Forest. Briarwood was the home of Caroline Dormon and is open for guided tours on weekends during the months of March, April May, October and November; Saturday's from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. and Sunday's from 12:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. other times available by appointment.
