Beautiful and remote, Toro Bayou offers easy white water, rock gardens, an abundance of sand beaches, good fishing and numerous side streams for exploration. The water is swift and clean – the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has graded Toro Bayou one of the best streams in the state for its clear water, natural beauty and wilderness characteristics. You can paddle on your own or sign up for one of the guided trips in the area. Water levels can fluctuate significantly, depending on the time of year. It’s a good idea to check ahead for conditions. Only experienced paddlers should go it alone on some portions of this bayou as there are many rocky falls and fast currents. Toro Bayou is 22 miles from Leesville and two miles from Toledo Bend Dam.
