Tickfaw State Park provides visitors with easy access to the Tickfaw River, a relaxing spot for a scenic paddle through diverse habitats. Unlike many nearby streams, the Tickfaw River has calm waters, minimal currents and no sand or gravel bars. Leisurely explore the cypress and tupelo swamp and enjoy the scenic beauty.

Tickfaw State Park is remarkably well-appointed for your family to enjoy. Begin with the Nature Center, where an introductory video explores the park’s history and wildlife. The boardwalks of the park showcase four ecosystems: a cypress swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine forest and the Tickfaw River. While you’re in the area, explore Baton Rouge’s Capitol Park Museum and The Louisiana Art & Science Museum.
