Grantsmanship Workshops

The Louisiana Office of Tourism's Rural Tourism/Byways Program will sponsor two in-depth, professional grant-writing workshops. Training will be provided by the Grantsmanship Center, a private training and resource organization for nonprofit academic and government agencies around the globe. 

About The Grantsmanship Center

The Grantsmanship Center was founded in 1972 in Los Angeles, where it is still headquartered. The center's training programs and publications cover grant management, applying for federal grants, social enterprise for non-profits and writing proposals for research funding

Workshop Details

This five-day, in-person workshop offers 35 hours of training suited for novice and experienced grant seekers. Participants will learn the basics of grant writing, write grant proposals, participate in peer review and discussion and seek funding. 

When & Where: Each workshop runs Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees can choose between two trainings:

July 14-18: Avoyelles Parish Tourism Office/4-H in Mansura 
July 21-25: West Baton Rouge Convention Center in Port Allen

What to Bring: Please bring a laptop. Snacks, lunch, coffee and water will be provided.

Registration: Registration is $100; Training is limited to 25 people per location.

Earning a Certification of Completion

To receive a Certificate of Completion, participants must commit to fulfilling all 35 hours of training. After the training, the Certificate of Completion is mailed to each graduate.

Graduates also receive Alumni Membership benefits for six months after the training, which include: one proposal review (per guidelines); access to funder databases; access to two, on-demand webinars; access to a live Q&A session with a trainer and discounts on additional training.

APRIL 2025 LOT brought the Destination Optimization Training Program to Natchitoches and Ruston! The Destination Optimization Training program is designed to provide tools and tactics to improve the completeness, quality and accuracy of destination content across Google products.
