The Poydras Center was built in 1924 as a school. It was purchased by the Pointe Coupee Historical Society in the late 90's and renovated with a generous donation by Bubba Olinde and family. The Poydras Center is now home to some government offices as well as a museum. There is a permanent exhibit on the 3rd floor curated by Kathe Hambrick entitled; People, Porches and Places; Photographic Memories of Pointe Coupee Parish. It is also home to the Performing Arts Series put on by the Arts Council of Pointe Coupee. The 200 seat auditorium is used for concerts, school performances, meetings and other events. The Poydras Center Pop up Art Exhibit is a rotating gallery of local artist's work which is new to the Poydras Center in 2023. The gallery changes out 3 times a year. Treasures of Pointe Coupee also comes to the Poydras Center for 2 weeks a year, showcasing artists work. 

The Pointe Coupee Historical Society is located at 500 West Main Street in the heart of the Historical District. the Historical Society is involved in many local Parish and City events such as Wine Down on False River, Boo and Brew, and Market at the Mill. The Jazz Brunch, hosted by the Historical Society showcases historical homes with a brunch on the lawn of these majestic old historical buildings. Those attending listen to local Jazz Ensembles and eat delicious food prepared by local restaurants.
