Dead Man Walking is a film based on the true story of a nun who is introduced to a man sentenced to death for murder. She visits him in prison and advocates for him to have his sentence reduced. Although they only know each other for a brief time, the relationship formed between the two is impactful. Scenes from the movie were filmed at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in West Feliciana Parish. Louisiana Prison Museum & Cultural Center is located on the grounds of the prisons and gives visitors information about the prison’s history and all of the movies that have been filmed there. You can also experience the Angola Prison Rodeo and Arts & Crafts fair every weekend in both April & October.
