Discover the birds, wildlife, and natural beauty of Plaquemines Parish at Wings Over the Delta, the First Annual Plaquemines Parish Birding Festival.
From the forested wetlands of the upper parish to the marshes and coastal habitats near the mouth of the Mississippi River, Plaquemines Parish is home to an incredible variety of resident and migratory birds. This new festival celebrates the parish’s natural resources while introducing residents and visitors to opportunities for birding, conservation, ecotourism, and outdoor recreation throughout Louisiana’s Delta Country.
The day begins at 6:30 AM with a Sunrise Birding Walk through Woodlands Conservancy as the forest comes alive. Festival activities throughout the day will include guided birding walks, bird banding, wildlife and nature programs, conservation exhibits, art vendors, kids’ activities, and outdoor exploration.
With its forested wetlands, walking trails, and diverse wildlife habitat, Woodlands Conservancy provides the perfect setting for the inaugural festival. Whether you’re an experienced birder, a nature enthusiast, or picking up binoculars for the first time, this family-friendly event will offer something for everyone.
