Blueberries Ripening at Hillcrest Blueberry Farm

Pick your own Louisiana blueberries at farms throughout the state.

Louisiana’s humid subtropical climate fosters fruits like southern highbush blueberries, strawberries and peaches — to name a few. The state’s many farmers markets showcase its gorgeous bounties. Or visit a pick-your-own blueberry farm, a common tradition in summer, when fruit is full and ripe.

At Hillcrest Blueberry Farm in Gloster, you won’t just find fresh blueberries. You’ll also find delicious jams, jellies, preserves, fruit butters and Daye Alexander’s refreshing blueberry lemonade. Here, she shares her recipe for a berry beverage fit for a summer afternoon.

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
