We are the home of the Coushatta Indian tribe known as the “Red Shoes People” and the Coushatta Casino Resort, the largest land-based casino in Louisiana. If you love the outdoor life, we have hunting at West Bay Game Reserve and at Dry Creek Ranch. If fishing is more your style, the Calcasieu River and the Ouiska Chitto creek offers many opportunities for that "big" catch! Canoeing, kayaking and tubing on the Ouiska Chitto is a chance to get away from it all on a peaceful trip down river with beautiful, white sand beaches for picnicking or overnight stays. Hungry? We have some of the best Cajun food right here in our hometowns. Boiled crawfish, fried fish and seafood platters, or specialty smoked meats, boudin and cracklins and a little of everything in between, you are sure to tantalize your taste buds and Feed Your Soul! Oh, and don't forget our Farmer's Markets with locally grown produce, honey and fresh eggs.
We hope you visit us, and find out how life is lived in our part of Louisiana. So, come on, Step into Cajun Country and stay a while!
