St. Martinville Main Street is a hub for Acadian enthusiasts, who visit the acclaimed Evangeline Oak located on the banks of the Bayou Teche. St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, called the “Mother Church of the Acadians,” is also a popular stop for visitors. The Acadian Memorial museum hosts exhibits about the 3,000 Acadian exiles who came to Louisiana from Canada. It's housed in the St. Martinville Cultural Heritage Center, which is also home to the St. Martinville African American Museum.

If you love farm-to-table cuisine, then dining at The St. John Restaurant is a must, or belly up to a historic bar at Robert’s Lounge. Grab coffee and local art at The Studio Gallery & Coffee Bar.

For over 20 years, the annual Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Wooden Boat Congrès has celebrated Acadian traditions with music, reenactments, French-speaking tables, genealogy workshops and, of course, wooden boat displays.
