Type of Route
15 square miles

Savor Louisiana’s natural environment at Lake Martin, which is filled with wildlife like little blue herons, snowy egrets and spoonbills. Part of the Cypress Island Preserve, the lake provides 15 square miles of cypress and tupelo swamp bottomlands to traverse. While the views are phenomenal, the incredible bird population is part of what makes paddling here so memorable.

Lake Martin is only 7 miles from Lafayette, the heart of Cajun Country. After an exciting day on the water, stop in one of the area's many restaurants, honky-tonks or music halls to experience live Louisiana music. The sounds of the accordion and fiddle will have you ready to learn the Cajun two-step. Check out the historical Blue Moon Saloon for evening zydeco, Cajun and country music performances.
