If this beautiful mansion reminds you of another historic property, that's by design. Gov. Huey P. Long, who wanted to run for president, chose the Georgian style allegedly because he wanted a preview of life in the White House. The house even boasts a small oval office. While Long never made it to the White House, the mansion he built was home to eight other governors until 1963. The building is now a historic house museum with furnishings from each of the governors who lived here. The dining room features "Scenic America" wallpaper depicting an idyllic vision of the young nation created by Jean Zuber and Co. The house also has a solarium where water was run over a copper roof to cool the room.
