The Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery is the site of the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. Visitors will see the Chalmette Monument, cannon replicas, and the Malus-Beauregard House. Battlefield grounds, visitor center and public restrooms are open 7 days/week, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans is held annually the second weekend in January. Visitors enjoy cannon and musket firings, military drills, and craft and cooking demonstrations.
