Ray follows the life and career of Ray Charles, the legendary rhythm and blues musician. After going blind as a child, Ray begins playing piano and discovers his talent for music. The film follows the struggles and triumphs of his career and his personal life. The scenes from Ray’s childhood home were filmed at Laurel Valley Plantation and several New Orleans area bars set the scene for his early performances. Jamie Foxx delivers an Oscar winning performance as Ray and showcases his musical talent. Fans of the movie may recognize Half-Moon Lounge, Maple Leaf Bar, Sandpiper Bar and Saturn Bar from the film.
