Live and Let Die
Fortunately for the local wildlife, 007 has moved on from the swamps of Louisiana and from the Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge. You’re not likely to see secret agents chasing bad guys in boats, but this area – specifically Irish Bayou – is where parts of the famous boat chase scene from Live and Let Die was filmed. Today, things are a little calmer at the 27-thousand-acre refuge which contains some of the last remaining marsh areas adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne. Outdoorsy types can enjoy fishing, crabbing, hiking, and paddling while the more sedate visitor can take in some bird watching, self-guided tours, or join in one of the many nature programs offered by site staff.
