Jonah Hex
A supernatural fantasy set during the Civil War, the movie is based on a graphic novel series of the same name. The titular character, Jonah Hex, is a bounty hunter with some unusual tools in his kit. Louisiana plays the historical setting well, from the soft Spanish-moss-draped trees to the rough-and-tumble spirit of a post-Civil War America. While it’s frowned upon to gallop your horse down the oaken allée (as Josh Brolin did during a chase scene) of Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, you can wander the gardens and remember the soft-spoken but menacing confrontation between Brolin’s Hex and John Malkovich’s Quentin Turnbull.
