Surrounded by miles and miles of protected marshes and waterways, St. Bernard is a world-class fishing destination just southeast of New Orleans.

Whether you’re seeking freshwater or saltwater catches, you’ll have plenty of options to cast a line for largemouth bass, catfish, redfish, flounder and more. Enlist one of the many guide and charter services in the area, including The Big Outdoors Charters, Gotcha Hooked Guide Service, Dudenhefer’s Fishing Charters and Redfish Dynasty. For more outdoor fun, head to St. Bernard State Park to picnic, hike, bird watch and visit the water playground. In town, visit the Los Isleños Museum and Historic Village to learn about the history and cultural traditions of the Canary Islanders who arrived in the late 18th century.

In addition to commercial options, check out the Delacroix Lodge for cabins and RV sites that are convenient for fishing. You’ll also find RV sites at Richard’s RV Park and St. Bernard State Park, in addition to regular tent campsites.

Getting There
It's easy to navigate to St. Bernard — especially since the town is less than an hour from New Orleans. If you're flying into town, rent a car, hail a taxi or book a rideshare from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
