Hooper Road/Comite River Park Trail
BREC Hooper Road Park lies in the woods on the outskirts of Baton Rouge near the airport. This trail system has about five miles of winding off-road terrain in the Hooper Road Loop, with a connector that leads to the Comite River trail. While there are some hills, it’s not a serious challenge. The trails meander through the trees and along Cypress Bayou and the Comite River. It’s a good idea to pick up a map at the trailhead. Also bring bug repellant in spring and summer.
Motorized vehicles are not allowed on this narrow pathway, but it does get heavy use and can turn into a mud track in wet weather. Watch for potholes and ruts that can trip you up. From I-110 take the Airport Exit. Take Harding Road east towards Plank. Harding becomes Hooper Road when you pass through the Plank intersection. Continue on Hooper; take a left on Corlett into the Sharon Hills Subdivision. Corlett ends with Hooper Road. Park on the right.
