Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival
If you’re craving Cajun or Creole music and food, there's no better place to find it than at the Crawfish Festival.
Crawfish Capital of the World
Recognizing the community’s importance to one of the state’s favorite foods, the Louisiana Legislature in 1959 declared Breaux Bridge the “Crawfish Capital of the World.” It was in the following year that the city held its first major crawfish festival.
When Is the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival?
Held the first full week of May over three days in Parc Hardy, the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival has become one of the largest gatherings of world-famous Cajun, zydeco and swamp pop musicians. Close to three dozen bands typically perform on multiple stages.
Take this opportunity to taste crawfish in new ways – étouffée, crawdogs, boudin, pie and more.
Other Festival Activities
A popular attraction for families from near and far, the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival features loads of Cajun cuisine – and of course, crawfish served in every possible way – along with crawfish races, Cajun and zydeco dance contests, a carnival midway, a crawfish cook-off and a parade in honor of the Crawfish Queen.
