The Italian immigrants that settled in Kenner in 1855 shipped produce across the nation by rail immediatley having an impact on community they settled in. The Kenner Italian Heritage, Inc. created by former Kenner Police Chief Nick Congemi, hosts the event each year as a way to honor Louisiana and Kenner's rich Italian heritage. “We invite everyone to come out and be Italian for the weekend,” said Nick Congemi. “We think of this as a huge family reunion where everyone is a member.”
